Chase Community Giving Comes to an End! Thank You to All Our Supporters and Partners!
January 31, 2009

With the conclusion of the Chase Community Giving, we take a moment to applaud all of you that were part of this race in different ways.

First, we would like to take this opportunity to offer our sincere CONGRATULATIONS to the winners of the $1m as well as the $100,000. We were honored to have been part of the race with you all. You inspired us in different ways. Indeed, we do celebrate your WIN in the spirit that your win is a win for all of us that are part of the non-profit sector and are in our own ways contributing to making the world a better place for all.

Second, our sincere appreciation to our supporters that joined us from every corner of the globe. From the USA to Africa, Asia, Latin America, Europe and the Caribbean, your passion and commitment through this journey has been a great inspiration. All your efforts gave us great strength through the contest and enabled us to make great achievements for the organization.  Remember too, that it is also you our supporters that rocked us to a $25,000 prize win in round one of the contest!

Third, to thank the organizers and sponsors of the contest – The Chase Community - for granting us this opportunity to participate in the contest. It was an opportunity that once again brought to light the important work that non-profit organizations continue to advance.

For us at Service For Peace, this was an opportunity that allowed us to think big, and think of the many significant accomplishments we can make within the communities we work in with an extra $1m.

Are you familiar with our $1m BIG IDEA?
One million dollars can make a significant difference in the communities where we work.
There is a poignant story from Africa where a man read a book about making windmills and he turned that story into reality by building a windmill that became the point of electricity provision for the community around him. He is now working to help other communities gain energy independence. You can read the story here.

Service For Peace has been conducting volunteer service programs around the world for the past seven years. We have particularly focused on schools and have recently begun adding libraries since they can be such a valuable resource for both the school and the surrounding community.

With the $1 million dollar grant, our goal was to support our international chapters to immediately expand their activities. Working with international volunteers and the local community, Service For Peace would create 100 school-based libraries in communities in Africa, Asia and Latin America and anticipated completing them in two years. Each library would be equipped to provide essential, life-saving information that is specific to local communities. That information will be conveyed in words, pictures, and DVDs and will focus on health, agriculture, nutrition, hygiene, sanitation and water supply.

We believe our library concept can provide the much needed information on health, nutrition, technology and other issues that can significantly improve the lives of millions of people around the world and also be a meeting point for community members of different cultures and religions, as well as a venue for continuing education.

We invite you all to stay updated with us as we continue to advance the vision to create ‘DreamCatcher’ libraries. We emerge out of this more energized and aware of the world of possibilities. We are determined to ensure that all your efforts will go a long way in achieving new successes; in our goal to ensure that we bring the needed knowledge and skills to the youth and children of the communities around the world and empower them to transform their communities.
